not all of us are lucky enough to live in cities or even suburbs where the ground is relatively well paved and spots are every where waiting for you, and for those who live where tows are small and spread apart by fields and trees how do you find a place to blade/skate?
i have found google maps to be an invaluable tool in finding spots and parks, now skate spots and even skate parks are not normally marked on the map so to find them i use the satellite view to see what kind of obstacles i can expect in each town, before i commit to the drive there (old fashion spot finding time, park, blade around town). for free skate parks i do the same thing except i search park (some state or town parks have a skate park even if its not advertised, on the park site if they have one, or even marked in any way on the map) and then do the long laborious task of looking at what is in each park (great for rainy days where you cant get blading off your mind).

Well, living in Smalltown Wisconsin, lol, I do a lot of skating in parking lots and things. But yeah, the concrete disciples site is fairly good for locating parks, and they do rate a few of them too! Concrete Disciples Skatepark Directory

It helps to head out and explore you're town on your skates. Nothing's better than seeing something you wanna ride on and being able to try it or scope it out first hand. :]
