if you are looking for knee/elbow pads but find the there just too much of an investment for one that fit comfortably, try looking at military surplus or pads designed for law enforcement, military, or sport shooting. brands like hatch and alta have cheep pads that fit well and only cost about 40 for a full set (elbow and knee). if your go with alta (or similar style of pads)know that its a rubber cap not plastic so if your fall on them you wont slid to much. as for helmets they are about the same price ether way if u do chose to go with airsoft helmets (non ballistic) check if it has the foam insert to absorb shock, mesh netting isn't the best for hard falls. as for shinguards the cheapest shinguards i can find are for Soccer. ride safe

Oh, I wanted to ask this for a while, but couldn't find a proper topic: I'm looking for a pair of fingerless gloves. Not like the hand guards, just a pair of gloves

Hmm... with sewing skills, you could find a nice pair of gloves and take the fingers off, and sew up the fingers. Otherwise, go to your nearest hardware and sporting goods store. The bike section at the sporting goods store, or the work gloves section at the hardware/home stores both often times have good high quality high density fingerless gloves.
And vampfrog, those are some good tips! I love military surplus, and find a lot of useful items. But, I wouldn't have thought of an airsoft helmet! Awesome, man.

gloves get cheep after winter and i agree that cutting the fingers off and sewing the ends is the cheapest way to go. if your are looking for gloves to take a large amount of sliding or other damage i would go with ones made of leather, CORDURA , ripstop. cotton gloves are comfortable but lack the strength to take repeated abuse. and yes military surplus is amazing they sometimes have the Soviet style gas mask made for kids and dogs haha. I agree completely on glove material. And, now I want a new gas mask... Warning to everyone: Don't step on them in combat boots. Woops.

I was thinking of getting a helmet along with knee/elbow pads but I'm having a hard time finding a good one. I am planning on just spray painting the helmet a color I want so that doesn't affect my choice in buying one. I keep seeing the same style and want to know if the holes on the top of the helmet (holes in a circle shape) matter in how effective it is? Does anyone use one or has and is able to give me advise on buying the right one?

As far as I'm aware, that really serves absolutely no use in effectiveness, it's just to allow your head to "breathe," so that you won't overheat.

yes and help to relive stress on the helmet so it beds slightly instead of cracking (in most cases) ventilation is also important so u dont smell like the locker room after a game haha when getting a helmet make sure it fits snug with as little play as possible (its useless if u take a big slam and it just pops off) i am using a cheep snow board helm, they have the extra ear covers that helps it stay in place.

Haha, those work real well, man. But yeah, the helmet definitely has to stay in place.
