Fang's rapid acceleration and deceleration and being able to those on a dime, as well as turning and various carving maneuvers too. You don't necessarily need to "kick", per se. But rather do something with your free leg. :]

Do you have any tips on accelerating?

Do you have any tips on accelerating? Have you checked out the Double Push technique? I like this technique. :3 www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmFZxNEuJH8Sure it's not the best video, another reason why we have to get some trick videos going soon, but it gives you a lot of info on how to do it. :] This video could be useful for anyone interested, actually. I suggest giving it a try and seeing how you can apply it to your style.

From what I've seen, this technique is more suitable to keep speed constant, and only part of it is accelerating.

Yeah, the double push is amazing to use to keep up a high speed at a distance, but it's not amazing for immediate acceleration. It's definitely a gradual thing.

Also, the double push is controversial to use, because it takes hours and hours and hours of practice to make it worthwhile as a substitute for normal quick skating, honestly. And you need to train your legs and body for it as well. Plus, on a short track, it's hardly worthwhile, in my opinion.

Hmmm...Well, it works for me. Must be something I'm doing. xD I'll get back to you on that. I'm pretty sure what I do is modified. I just kinda fit things where they work best for me personally. lulz The video did say "during accelerations", so I'm assuming I left something out to include with the double push, meaning the double push alone wouldn't provide the desired acceleration? I'll have to check that out next time I'm out riding. XD And Nomura makes a point. I don't really roll on short tracks, such as basketball and tennis courts and the like, unless I'm warming up or whatever. I usually ride where I can go as fast as I can. So I suggest, if you decide to practice this, to do it in paths, empty roads and other long routes and areas. :]
